The fall and the rise of the Arvind Kejariwal

It was a 6th of April 2011, IPL was just ended and Indian Media was searching for some hot news. A seventh standard  passed old man named as Anna Hajare was going to start a fast until death. The reason was obviously the Jan Lokpal bill.  Fasting was not a new thing for him as he has done it on many occasions. Each occasion gave some different results which were important for the nation. But this time his enemy was different and the challenge was tremendous as he was fighting against mighty Congress of the center. He needed a companion who could deal with the cunning Congress and its extraordinary manipulative ministers who were expert in the game of words. Anna found a solace in an IIT graduate lad named as Arvind kejariwal who was also a former joint director of the department of Income tax.
The story of Arvind kejariwal is not an extraordinary one but it has an essence of greatness.    As an officer of Indian civil services he knew everything about the inner part of government. When he joined Anna Andolan, challenges were difficult for him because he did not start his career as a politician. It becomes extremely difficult for a person to launch a campaign against politicians specially if he is not related to politics. The case of Anna was different as he was powerful. The power of Anna came from the large scale inclusive work which he had done earlier in his career. Anna's work includes the starting of the grain bank, irrigation projects and literary movements which were huge success in rular area. It gave power to Anna so that he could take on any corrupt politician.
When Anna Andolan was in full swing and when it was assumed that nation will get the strong Lokpal bill, the Congress party striked back. They played the natural game of divide and rule which was inherited from their British counterparts. Dramatically they challenged the Anna and his members to join politics. This was the game which Civil society failed to understand. When nation was close to getting a strong Lokpal bill, the decision of forming a political party by Arvind Kejariwal came forward. At that time it looked like a political mistake but now it seems that he was correct. At that time lot of criticism happened and stories of Arvind betraying Anna came forward.
As far as Anna Andolan is concerned the decision was really a set back. This is because it was the game of congress to divide Civil society in which they succeeded. It was the same time when Congress ended the political career of Baba Ramdev who was looking like a threat. Congress got success in breaking the relationship between Kejariwal and Kiran Bedi. Most important of all this was that they succeeded in pending a strong Lokpal Bill.
Now the bad time has gone and new equations has been formed. Kejariwal and his Aam Admi Party got the huge success in Delhi elections. Though time is looking difficult for the party but they are succeeding on an account of good governance.
There are huge challenges ahead of AAP . First one would be of tackling corruption in his own party if in case it would happen in future. The second would be the admissions of students in various colleges. This is because in Delhi lot people depend upon politicians for the admission of their children. When this so called fathers will go to any AAP MLA for getting admission then it would be interesting to guess the replies from members of assembly.
The success of AAP is huge in case if we calculate the time they invested in the election. There is no doubt that they got success because of already weakened Congress. The impact of brand Anna and brand Kejariwal also played a huge role. Raj Thackeray in Maharashtra required a time of around three years to get 12 seats. In that case a time of a year and gain of more than 27 seats is huge.
As it has happened in the past with Janpraksh Narayan's Janata Dal that people gave them power mainly on he issue of non-corrupt party and it turned out to be a false promise, it should not happen with AAP party. At least for now this is what we actually expect from Arvind Kejariwal and his Aam  people.
