A few lifelong lessons to learn from the movie Dil Chahata Hai

Among-st the one of most  benevolent places of Goa, there lies Chapora fort. At this place sea becomes flamboyantly silent and a ship tries to find its way through far end. Minutes of silence fills the place with aroma of beautiful thoughts. No one is in hurry to talk, they are happy with the calm atmosphere and the way it is giving shape to their thoughts. Finally the first person breaks the silence.

"Isn't it a beautiful place. I think we should come here at least for a week in a year"

Second person just nods his head "Yes we should" and asks to third person "What do you say Sid?"

Third person named as Siddhartha  does not look back and says ”I am watching that ship which is going to vanish in few minutes. We all are just like that ship who are going to find their own goals. And it may happen that our goals might not be same"

The second person does not like his thoughts "I don't know why are you saying all this. We all are friends"

"Off course we are friends but who knows where our goals will going to lead us.    And in that case we may not even meet for a single time in ten years"

Meanwhile first person re enters the seen and looking at the eye of Siddhartha delivers the extraordinary dialogue of the movie

" We all were friends, We are friends, And we will be friends forever"

This seen from the movie Dil Chahata hai might have refreshed your memories. What actually happens with the movie is that it is just the mirror image of the life of urban youth. Since it replicates the emotions we tend to watch it again and again.

It is a story of friendship love and balance between these two. Charles Dickens used to say that friends are never two in numbers they are and always should be three. The movie just correctly matches with Dicken's idea. When two persons are not agree with each other it is the third who has to put his weight against any one's idea and automatically problem get solved out.

Siddhartha's story where he starts loving a woman older than him tell us the existing fact that the pure love can not be bound to the shackles of age and religion. Siddhartha's character gives that lifetime massage that it is never compulsory that we should always like the ideas or jokes of our friends. Every individual has his own thoughts and beliefs and friends should never cross their limit while expressing them. When one falls in love, all the barriers just becomes blank.

Siddhartha's conversation with Deepa also has a deep massage. Deepa who loves Aakash asks "if she is so beautiful then why can't she get Aakash?" Sid takes a handful of beach sand in his hand and says "See the more you try to grab this sand the more it get released"

During this conversation I remember the massage given by Dale Carnegie. He says there are two kinds of things in the whole world. First the things which are naturally reachable and others that are naturally  unreachable. Temptation forces a person to go for unreachable things. It forces a person on wrong path. But what is the real meaning of temptation? It is nothing but our inner urge to go for things which can abruptly harm our self interests. In this case, best idea should be to concentrate the things which we can achieve. However, we should never underestimate our capabilities. While determining these things we should not underestimate our own value. Avoiding failures at all cost should be the real goal of our life.

Sameer's character gives a deep glimpse of happy life. Though he has to choose between his girlfriends and his friends', he takes the decision of choosing later.  In today's world the similar situation exists where we have to choose between two different groups. We have to take this decision by examining as who adds value to our life. We have to do micro-scoping observation as in which group we could be naturally comfortable. Sameer's character gives a simple but equally important massage that life is a long holiday.

Finally there is giant character of Aakash. A person who takes his decisions based on comfort. The only difference between Sameer and  Aakash's character is the prior person takes his life easily and later person takes his relationships easily. The main artery of the movie is in the first half when Akash slaps to Siddharth. The tension filled scene just vibrates our heart. Later Aakash realizes that we have to value our friend's decision to choose relationships based on pure love. In the the last Akash condoles and asks forgiveness. This moment teaches us the act of forgiveness among-st friends.

Dil Chahata Hai became the instant hit of  2001. It was so close to the normal life of urban youths that they prefer to watch it many times. It is filled with emotions of unselfish friendship and the real love.  This movie established Aamir Khan as a perfectionist. Only Rahna Hai Tere Dilmei could create the same effect in the same era. The movie even acted as catalyst to improve Goa as a tourist place. Report by ministry of tourism depicts that average number of tourists after 2001 has considerably increased. The ministry even issued a thanking report a way back in 2006. The only and best way to give tribute to this movie is by watching it one more time.
